Circulation & Distribution

Colleges and Universities

Rigzone is also reaching out to aspiring professionals. The Rigzone Reporter is distributed at schools with major petroleum engineering and geology programs. This includes Texas A&M, SMU, University of Houston, Rice University, University of Oklahoma, UT Austin (Petroleum & Geosystems Reading Room), University of Calgary, Memorial University of Newfoundland, LSU – College of Engineering, McNeese State University, Tulane, and Nichollis State. We will work throughout the year to add more schools to our distribution list.

Heliports in the US and UK

In addition to building a regular subscriber base, Rigzone has developed distribution deals to have the Rigzone Reporter distributed at heliports along the US Gulf Coast and in the United Kingdom. This makes the magazine readily available to thousands of qualified industry professionals each week.

The Rigzone Reporter launched in the summer of 2006 with a large promotional splash on the Rigzone.com web site and newsletters. This resulted in an initial surge of nearly 7,000 Rigzone members choosing to receive the inaugural edition of the magazine. Between late July and mid-September 2006, new subscriptions continued to pour in rapidly, with an average of more than 100 Rigzone members subscribing to the Rigzone Reporter each day. The Q4 2006 issue was distributed to 15,000 subscribers plus another 5,000 at heliports and industry conferences.

This rate of growth is expected to continue throughout 2007 as the Rigzone.com web site member group grows. All new Rigzone members are offered a subscription to the Rigzone Reporter, and we have seen a higher than 35% conversion rate. Over the course of the last three years, Rigzone has consistently grown its member base. In 2004, an average of 108 new members joined Rigzone each day. In 2005, that number rose to 135 new members each day, and thus far in 2006, 183 new members have joined Rigzone each day. For this reason, the Rigzone Reporter subscriber base should continue growing at more than 100 new subscribers per day.

At this rate, the total number of Rigzone members subscribing to the Rigzone Reporter should rise to over 30,000 subscribers by the end of 2008.
